With the spring season, volatile weather impacts plants and flying insects (those that brave the elements). This ‘shabby chic’ depiction of a dragonfly and pastel spring blooms, as a fused glass art panel, is made using four distinct glass techniques/elements to convey the natural course of spring colors. This composition includes a transparent clear sheet glass base with light aqua, neo-lavender (made with neodymium), muted green, light amber and clear iridescent powders tack fused on the back side of the glass. The dragonfly wings are painted using a black glass enamel, then hand cut clear iridescent tops the wings. The flowers combine handmade torch and stringer stems, and Murrini and hand cut sheet glass flowers/petals. The concept of the powders on the back was to maintain the transparency to allow transmitted light to flow through. This handmade glass art panel measures 8 1/2” tall and 5 5/8” wide.
